What Does We Could Not Find Matching Credentials Mean?

Your credentials on Snapchat are your username and password. To log in to your account, they must match and connect to an already made account. If you write the right username but the wrong password, Snapchat won’t be able to match your credentials, so it won’t let you in.

But sometimes, the application fails to match your credentials, even if you write them correctly. Whether it’s because of an outdated application or an activated VPN, it won’t let you log in till you fix the issue.

If Snapchat doesn’t let you in, you might be typing the wrong password. To change your password, open the application and click on Forget Your Password.

  • Click on Save.

If Snapchat still doesn’t let you in, try the next step.

2. Check If Your Account Is Locked

If someone tries to log in to your account multiple times, Snapchat will lock it to protect you from hackers and scammers. It’ll also do so if you add many friends at once without verifying your account or use an unauthorized third-party app to access the application.

While this is inconvenient for many users, it keeps your account and other users’ accounts safe. To unlock it, enter your correct username and password and tap on Unlock. If it doesn’t work, you’ll have to wait 48 hours before logging back in.

3. Try Logging in From Another Device

There are many reasons why Snapchat won’t let you log in from your mobile application. For instance, you might have an activated VPN or a cache build up.

If you suspect this might be the issue, try logging in from another device, be it another mobile phone or your laptop. If you log in normally, then you should fix your original device before using it to access Snapchat.

4. Check If There’s a Snapchat Update Available

Social media applications provide new updates nearly every week. Some updates are essential, and if you ignore them for a long time, your application will eventually have glitches and bugs. Since some bugs might cause the matching credentials issue, you’ll need to update your application to be able to access your account.

So check for the latest update, install it, and log in. Note that you won’t face this issue if your phone automatically updates your applications.

5. Restart Your Phone

When you keep your phone on for a long time, it won’t be able to get rid of the RAM, which is random access memory. Over time, the buildup of information and bugs might give you some glitches, like the matching credentials one. To clean your phone, turn it off and on again.

6. Clear Snapchat Cache From Mobile

If you use Snapchat daily and never clear its cache, you might have a buildup that you need to clean. When cache buildups, it causes many glitches that may prevent you from logging in to your account.

The problem is almost always temporary, but you can fix it permanently in a few minutes. That said, you can only clear your cache after logging in. So you’ll have to try some of the previous steps and hope it works.

Here’s how to clear the Snapchat cache:

  • Open your Snapchat application
  • Click on the Bitmoji icon on the top left of the screen
  • Press on the gear icon on the top right of the screen to go to settings
  • Scroll down and look for Account Actions
  • Click on clear cache

7. Don’t Use Snapchat With VPN

VPNs are nice because they enable you to use all applications without worrying about internet restrictions in your area. However, they do so by changing your location, which might confuse some applications like Snapchat. If Snapchat can’t configure your location, it won’t let you into your account. So uninstall your VPN and try to log in again.
