OnePlus…sounds familiar doesn’t it? OnePlus took the smartphone market by storm since its first release back in 2014, the OnePlus One. For a phone costing around $299 for the 16 GB variant and $349 for the 64 GB variant, it offered great features for a price tag that was almost impossible to believe. Then came the OnePlus 2 followed by the OnePlus X, OnePlus 3 and 3T. Since 2014, OnePlus has made a name for itself by offering great smartphones with great specs at prices that would shy the likes of Samsung and LG.
In this article, we will list down all the rumors and official announcements that have been out for the OnePlus 5.
Starting off with the display, OnePlus 5 is expected to sport a Quad HD display which will be a huge upgrade from its previous 1920*1080 optic AMOLED display. There’s a high probability that this will happen as OnePlus has provided all its phones with a Full-HD display since the OnePlus One and they might just opt for a better display this time. To support this display will be a 5.5″ screen. But the recent spec leak from AnTuTu shows that the phone will come with a FullHD display like its predecessors. If it comes in FullHD, it is surely going to be an AMOLED display.
Next, comes the battery, with OnePlus 3T being powered by a 3400 mAH battery that would last a day easily, we can expect their next flagship to come with a 3600 mAH or higher battery. This certainly will be helpful if OnePlus does decide to release the 5 with a Quad HD display. Also, OnePlus’ official Dash Charge technology that charges the 3T to max within half an hour is expected to be enhanced in their next phone.
Coming on to the most important feature of a flagship smartphone, the 5 is expected to come with the latest Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 835. The 835 is currently the best processor by Qualcomm and powers top ends devices like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus along with Xiaomi Mi6. With 35% smaller size and 25% less power consumption, Snapdragon 835 will make sure that you never lack on performance.
OnePlus makes sure that their phones are cheap. But, they also make sure that their users never fall short on ram. Back in 2104, 4GB ram was too much to have in a device, but hey, OnePlus did it. Now in 2017, we are getting rumors saying that the 5 will include 8 gigs of ram however, the latest Antutu benchmarks show the 5 will come out with 6 gigs of ram. We can all agree that 6GB ram will be more than enough and 8GB will just be overkill.
Last but not the least, if you do like photography or even if you prefer to click occasionally, this is one thing that you would expect to be great. Nowadays, smartphones are getting better and better cameras that are capable of clicking some decent low light photos as well as those daily random snaps. Coming to the 5, rumors say that it’ll sport a dual rear camera with around 13 megapixels. Rumors suggest 2 designs of the rear camera, one similar to the iPhone’s horizontal design and the other like stock OnePlus’ vertical design.
P. S.: Here’s a leak of the OnePlus 5’s camera quality posted by OnePlus itself.
Also, there are rumors around the release dates which will most probably be 15th June.
Update 1: OnePlus recently shared a photo of the 5’s back right after it got leaked by Android Authority. OnePlus new teaser also shows that the 5 will sport a dual camera on the rear.
